Seriously, I'm a Big Fat Liar

I said something in my last post--a week ago!--about posting a video entry the next day. Ha. I have the video, thanks to my lovely little HD camcorder that I've had for a few months.

Isn't it amazing how technology advances? My previous HD camcorder, purchased in 1999 or 2000, was super low-resolution in comparison, not to mention really clunky! At the time, it was pretty advanced, but now it's blown away by the new one... I went with a top-of-the-line one again, so I can hopefully get a few (okay, a couple?) years out of it before I feel like I'm way behind the times.

So, anyway... I do have the video. I also have some computer problems at the moment, serious enough ones to have warranted a visit to the Apple Genius Bar.

I swear, they throw around that "Genius" title too freely... I should be a third-degree black-belt Apple Genius if the people at my local Apple store are any indication.

I wonder if any fellow designers, developers, or video editors are as irritated by the current Apple Store experience as I am. Now, it's like the people who built up the Apple company (yeah, I've only been using Macs since 1981, y'all... my school actually had them!) are an annoyance to the iPod, iPhone, and iTunes retards who need an Apple Genius to help them restore their contact lists or get their Bluetooths working or explain to them that dropping a Nano into the toilet is not covered by a warranty.

I know you're going to be so sad until you can relocate that latest Coldplay .mp3 you accidentally moved to a hidden trash can, but please, can we get back to my fragmented hard drive or perplexing (chronic) battery issue with the first-generation Intel PowerBook that prevent me from doing my work? (And speaking of that, can Apple please admit there's an issue with the first-gen Intel processors... you gotta know it by now.)

On the plus side, I am pretty impressed with the design, features, and (surprisingly) price of the latest iMacs. I am waiting for the mid-November release of the quad-core processor, which I will load with 32 GD (as in "god-damned") GB of RAM and a 2TB hard-drive... to replace the whole tower-and-separate-monitor configuration I've got going on now for my main system. One question: How to work with an iMac and a Cintiq?

The end. I'll get to that video soon.
