Only in her mid-twenties, Halie Rosenberg already is advancing from actor to actor-producer. Fortunately for her, the transition has been smoothed by her joining Company of Angels, the oldest repertory theater in Los Angeles, which supports member-run productions by providing a venue... and virtual artistic freedom.
With her March production of Steve Lohse's dark family drama
Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!, Halie hopes to help Los Angeles theatergoers discover a talented new playwright, a skillful set of actors, and an important theater she enthusiastically promotes.
The script was found through Internet postings. The producer, playwright, and director corresponded extensively via email before actually meeting. The play itself contains modern characters with real problems today's audience can understand. As Halie puts it, "This production is a testament to the 21st Century."
Here, Halie discusses her own acting background, what producers do, and what's so great about the LA theater scene.
